Improving learning at Gethsemane Junior Academy

Typing Pal, Reading A-Z, KhanAcademy are just a handful of websites Gethsemane uses on a consistent basis to enhance our students' learning.

The lack of computers and its impact on learning at the Gethsemane Junior Academy was brought to the attention of IMBY by Miss Emelda Lewis. As discussions progressed the organization also realized there were no computers in the reception area of the school also.

The ministry then reached out to one of its sponsors Dr. Lafayette Traewick who worked with the organization over a number of weeks in securing the much needed computers. The school now has ten computers with an approximate value of 3000.00 USD value. The board members were all please as the learning abilities for the school has been greatly enhanced.

This is my first year as a Principal at Gethsemane Junior Academy but I have been an educator for over ten years.  I deeply believe that we are living in an era that technology is the door to learning.  Without, the additional laptops and computers, we would have found it difficult to implement many lessons that consists of high critical thinking.

Typing Pal, Reading A-Z, KhanAcademy are just a handful of websites Gethsemane uses on a consistent basis to enhance our students' learning.  I personally thank the In My Backyard organization for their hand in looking out for our school.  I hope our partnership never diminishes.
