On October 29, 2018 the Furaha Elementary School lost one of its student to Malaria. USHINDI MURHULA was only 12 years of age. Our prayers and love go out to the family and friends of Ushindi. We at IMBY are vigorously pursuing a program to fight Malaria on two fronts, vaccination and providing clean water. Learn how you can help stop this killer of the children in the DRC.

Did you know?

For the doors of the school to remain open, each student is required to pay 1 USD per month from which 6 teachers must be paid and a director. Even though this monthly fee may seem small, most parents struggle to meet this monthly expectation. This resulted in the school almost been closed. It was in this moment of crisis that Pastor Emmanuel Kulondwa the director of development and man of deep faith expressed his concern for the welfare of the school to the board of directors at IMBY. Soon with the help of God a proposal was put together where the monthly fees would be all paid for all 70 students and a significantly improved monthly stipend offered to the  teachers. The proposal was accepted followed by the first installment of the monthly agreement.

Even though the school has been saved from closing there are still great needs. Lack of proper building, classrooms and nutrition are still yet to be addressed. IMBY is currently in negotiations with Pastor Kulondwa to provide an overall improvement to the listed areas of need and growth of the school. As soon as these plans are finalized, we will seek your efforts in joining us with your financial support as we embrace the people of the DRC.
